Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator
Middlesex County is seeking an energetic individual to serve as Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator. Great opportunity for person to live and work in the heart of Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay Region. Qualified applicants seeking either full-time or part-time employment are encouraged to apply. The person in this position is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating economic development programs within the County, including all aspects of local tourism promotion. Work includes planning, organizing and managing the County’s economic development and tourism programs, special events and related capital projects and services. Develops and manages content on the County’s Economic Development and Tourism initiative websites. Employee is responsible for promoting attributes of the area, preparing reports and presentations concerning economic development activities, and maintaining a database of County resources. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management Administration, marketing, communications, business administration or closely related field and 1 to 3 years experience working in a economic development, tourism development, marketing or communication position; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires computer experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and desktop publishing software. Possess valid Virginia Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Emergency Services Coordinator
Middlesex County is seeking an individual to serve as Emergency Services Coordinator. Qualified applicants seeking either full-time or part-time employment are encouraged to apply. The person in this position is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing emergency and non-emergency plans, policies and procedures for incident, event and/or disaster preparation, mitigation, response and recovery situations; training individuals and groups, serving as County representative/liaison to a variety of federal, state, regional, and local committees, boards and/or agencies associated with emergency services and management efforts. Bachelors degree in emergency management, public safety or related field, current certification at the NIMS 300 level (400 level preferred) and 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible public sector disaster and/or emergency management experience to include grant writing, grants management and supervision or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Possess valid Virginia Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Salary range for the position is $30,000.00 to $45,000.00.
