The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at the portion of their meeting which begins at 7:00 PM., to hear comments regarding the following: A proposed amendment of the Middlesex County Transient Occupancy Ordinance, Adopted on April 3, 2018, to increase the Transient Occupancy Tax, pursuant to the authority granted under Section 58.1-3819 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, from the current 2% to 5% of the total amount paid for lodging by any transient for any such lodging in the County, as allowed by law. Any excess over 2% of said tax shall be designated and spent solely for tourism and travel, and marketing of tourism or initiatives.
The County of Middlesex has received an unsolicited proposal for consideration under the Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002, Virginia Code §56-575.1 through §56-575.18 to build a new 3200 ft. runway at Hummel Field. The proposed runway intends to serve Middlesex County and surrounding areas, including the lower Northern Neck region of Virginia. The County encourages any interested parties to submit competing proposals that comply with the County’s adopted procedures.
Middlesex County 2020 Tax Notice The 2020 First Installment Middlesex County Real Estate Tax bills have been mailed. The due date for payment of these bills is June 5, 2020. By law, payments made in the Treasurer's Office or postmarked with the date of Friday, June 5, 2020 or before will be accepted as timely. Accounts remaining unpaid after June 5, 2020 will be subject to additional charges as provided by the Code of Virginia. Please check your bills for completeness upon receipt. If you have not received your tax bill(s), please contact the Treasurer's Office at (804) 758-5302 immediately. By law, failure to receive a bill does not relieve the taxpayer of any additional charges that will accrue for failure to pay by the due date. The Treasurer's Office is located in the Woodward Building in the courthouse complex in Saluda. A drop box for 24 hour payment service is also available at this location. In the event the office is closed to the public because of the COVID-19 virus, staff will be available to collect payments through the front window of the treasurer’s office building. If taxes are paid during office hours please bring exact cash, money order or check. For your convenience - Taxes can be paid at any “local - Middlesex” Sona, BB&T(Truist) or C&F Bank before June 5, 2020 and accepted as timely.
