The Middlesex Circuit Court Clerk’s Office encourages property owners to sign up for VADeed Alert, a free notification service that helps you stay informed about activity related to your property.  VADeed Alert sends email notifications when certain documents are recorded in the land records that match your name or Tax Map/Parcel ID number. These alerts can help provide early awareness of possible deed fraud or unauthorized filings.

The Middlesex County Treasurer’s Office now offers e-check payments for real estate and personal property taxes. This secure and convenient option allows residents to pay directly from their bank accounts online. A $1.00 processing fee per transaction applies. This fee is charged by a third-party payment processor, not by Middlesex County. For security purposes, e-check payments may only be submitted online.

To pay by e-check, visit: https://www.co.middlesex.va.us/ and click the “Online Payments” button to get started.

Important Information:

• E-check payments may take up to five business days to post.
• Payments submitted on or before the due dates printed on the bill will be considered timely.
• Please include your account number to ensure proper posting.

In-Person Payment Options

The Treasurer’s Office is located in the Woodward Building, 877 General Puller Highway, Saluda. Office hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. A secure drop box is available for 24-hour payment service.

Residents may pay in person by:

• Cash
• Check
• Money order
• Debit or credit card (2.45% convenience fee applies)

Taxes may also be paid at any local Middlesex branch of Primis or C&F Bank prior to the June 5 and December 5 due dates.

The Treasurer’s Office remains committed to modernizing services and providing convenient, secure payment options for Middlesex County residents.

Over the coming weeks and months, Cowan assessors will be visiting properties across the County to verify property information and update assessment records. You may see assessors walking parcels, taking photographs, or measuring structures as part of their normal duties.

All Cowan staff conducting reassessments will carry official identification, and their vehicle descriptions have been provided to County offices and 911 Dispatch for verification.

What Residents Should Know

• Assessors may be on or near your property as part of the reassessment process.

• They will not request entry into your home.

• They will have County-approved photo ID identifying them as Cowan reassessment personnel.

• If you are unsure whether someone is an assessor, you may contact Middlesex 911 Dispatch (non-emergency) or the Commissioner's Office to confirm.

Middlesex County appreciates your patience and cooperation as Cowan completes this important work. Accurate assessments help ensure fairness and equity for all property owners.
